While walking in a forest dark, along a rocky path through cork oak and olive groves we came upon a group dining al fresco: table, chairs, tablecloth, various foods and beverages arrayed on and near the table. Back packs and discarded shoes strewn about. In response to shouts of enticement to join them we stopped. Stefano came bounding over asking us if we wanted some food, or drink, how about a coffee or some fruit? We politely refused. Stefano is from Turin, his wife, in the chase car with supplies, meets him at various points where the path crosses the road. Camino Italian style.
Many more walkers on the trail than at the beginning of the week. There may be a wave of walkers catching up with us or we are overtaking others, though I doubt that. An amazing number of them suffering blisters, fatigue or a combination of the two, are skipping days. We have been fortunate, right-on schedule and tonight we are staying in a converted windmill. We ordered our dinner delivered to the windmill and ate on a deck overlooking the valley below. Camino Paula and Edward style.

Liked the heavy Dante cadence
We’re loving your stories! The view from the windmill deck looks a little like Todi!
Windmills to ship sails to empire. Channeling Peter Zeihan. Your dinner setting looks charming. Stay ahead of the tourists. If you get to the last town first you win.
Roaming rascals in Rabacal?
These are just wonderful little short stories. I look forward to them every day!
